Creator Accounts
Build a whole party. Run a roster. Hand off characters when they're ready.
What Is a Creator Account?
A Creator Account lets you create and manage up to 50 character identities on rpg.actor—each with their own unique name.rpg.actor handle, character sheet, sprite, and full AT Protocol identity.
Every character you create is a real, federated account. They appear on the rpg.actor compendium alongside everyone else, and they're fully compatible with Bluesky and other AT Protocol apps.
How It Works

One-time payment. No subscription, no recurring fees. You get access to your Creator Panel immediately after payment.
Create Characters
Pick a handle, and your character is live in seconds. They get a full AT Protocol account on the rpg.actor PDS with their own name.rpg.actor handle.
Set Them Up
Switch into any character to edit their stats, upload a sprite, write a bio—anything a regular rpg.actor user can do. You manage them all from one panel.
Hand Off
When a character is ready for a player, hand it off. They get login credentials and full ownership. The character slot frees up for you to use again.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when I hand off a character?
The character's account email and password are updated to new credentials that you share with the player. You lose management control, and the character slot frees up for reuse. The player now owns the account outright—they can change their password, edit their character, and use it like any other rpg.actor account.
Can a handed-off character be taken back?
No. Once a character is handed off, it belongs to the player. This is by design—handoff is a real transfer of ownership. Make sure the character is ready before handing it off.
Can characters be migrated to another PDS?
Yes, in principle. Characters are standard AT Protocol accounts with did:plc identities. Account migration is a feature of the AT Protocol. However, migrating away from the rpg.actor PDS would remove the name.rpg.actor handle—the character would need to adopt a handle on their new PDS's domain.
What's the character limit?
You can have up to 50 characters. This counts active characters only—characters that have been handed off or deleted don't count against your limit.
What data is stored?
Your Creator Account record stores: your AT Protocol DID, your tier and activation date, and a roster of character handles, DIDs, and creation dates. Character stats, sprites, and other AT Protocol data live on the rpg.actor PDS. No passwords are stored in plaintext—only cryptographic hashes.
Do characters show up on Bluesky?
Yes. After creation, a crawl request is sent to the Bluesky relay network so the account appears on the network. Characters are real AT Protocol identities—they can be found by handle and DID from any AT Protocol app.
Can I rename a character?
Yes, as long as you still manage the character (i.e., before handoff). Renaming changes the name.rpg.actor handle on the PDS. The character's DID stays the same.
Can I delete a character?
Yes. Deleting a character permanently removes the PDS account and all associated data. This frees the character slot. This action cannot be undone.
What if the PDS goes down?
Character accounts live on the rpg.actor PDS. If the PDS is temporarily unavailable, character creation and management actions will fail with a clear error. Your Creator Account record and payment status are stored separately and are not affected. Characters with did:plc identities can be migrated to another PDS if needed.
Is this a subscription?
No. It's a one-time purchase. You pay once and get permanent access to your Creator Panel and character slots.
